Institutional Investor Memberships are societies of unique groups of executives at investment management firms in the US and Europe who come together at Roundtable meetings and in small discussion groups to meet each other, to discuss critical industry issues and, in some of the groups, to market their services to major clients.

There are twelve separate Memberships, each named an Institute or Forum and each geared to a different executive level. There are separate membership groups for CEOs, traders, institutional sales leaders, chief legal officers, heads of fixed income, chief technology officers, and mutual fund marketing executives. They all are part of the Institutional Investor (magazine) Conference Department.

The informal, discussion group format of the Roundtables creates unique opportunities for Senior Delegates of each of the Membership groups to meet with their peers and expert speakers for frank exchange of views. Through long-lasting relationships developed in these groups, Delegates enjoy a trust and camaraderie as valuable as the specific insights they glean from the Roundtables.

The Membership groups are truly global, both in location and in the issues they address. A membership on one continent may have a counterpart membership group on one or two other continents, as is the case with CEOs of asset management firms and senior officials in securities trading and fixed income money management. These “sister” Memberships often have joint meetings and share similar issues and concerns. Similarly, while each of the Membership groups focuses on the major industry issues facing its region of the world, they also address the global reality of expanding marketplaces.

The Membership Roundtables explore many of the same investment, trading, business/people management and client relationship issues as in the Institutional Investor’s print media. But the format is live, interactive and personal.

The membership roster of each Institute or Forum is composed of Senior Delegates who join or renew their firm’s membership on an annual basis. The benefits of an annual membership include:
■ Three to five plenary Roundtables.
■ Unique “White Paper” research, including benchmark surveys with other members.
■ A private, members-only website for interactive discussion, relevant industry news, archives of past Roundtables and summaries, updated programs and attendee lists and online registration for new Roundtables.
■ “Ad Hoc” small group, regional meetings and/or conference calls and Webinars.

More than 400 asset management firms hold annual memberships in Insitutional Investor's Institutes and Forums. Most hold memberships in more than one membership group. Together these firms are responsible for the investment of the vast majority of AUM in the world's financial markets.
